Course Details for NVQ Level 2

Business and Administration

This NVQ is a cross-sector qualification that will be of value to administrative and clerical staff in a wide variety of areas in both the public and private sectors.

This course is intended for staff employed as administrative or clerical assistants.

To gain the full NVQ both mandatory units plus three optional units must be achieved.

As the combination of units for an individual will vary depending upon their work role and work setting, we will be pleased to offer free, friendly and impartial advice on selecting the most suitable units for each learner.

Customer Service

This NVQ is a cross-sector qualification that will be of value to staff who are responsible for delivering customer service and who interact directly with the customer in both the public and private sectors.

To gain the full NVQ a candidate must prove competence in a total of five units, comprising two mandatory units and three optional units.

As the combination of units for an individual will vary depending upon their work role and work setting, we will be pleased to offer free, friendly and impartial advice on selecting the most suitable units for each learner.

Health and Social Care

This course is intended for staff who deliver physical, emotional, or enabling care to clients, whether they work in health or social care, in the public, private or voluntary sectors. It is designed to be relevant for staff in all care settings, and is about the delivery of health and social care to individuals.

The course is structured so that a learner will successfully complete the six units required for the qualification. For learners employed in a social care setting inspected by Commission for Social Care Inspection, learners must complete four core units and two optional units. For learners employed in a setting regulated by Skills for Health, learners must complete two core units and two optional units, plus a further two units selected from either the core or option group.

Course Details for NVQ Level 3

Business and Administration

This NVQ is a cross-sector qualification that will be of value to administrative and clerical staff in a wide variety of areas in both the public and private sectors.

This course is intended for staff employed as office administrators, secretaries or personal assistants.

This NVQ is a cross-sector qualification that will be of value to staff who are responsible for the delivery of customer service, but who also have to monitor and develop the quality of the service delivered, and who may be in charge of their own department or team.

To gain the full NVQ a candidate must prove competence in a total of six units, comprising two mandatory units and four optional units.

Learning and Development: Unit A1 - Assessor

This award is for people who wish to assess NVQs and have experience of NVQ themselves. You must have occupational competence in the vocational area you want to assess and must have two candidates to work with.

To gain this award, candidates will be assessed by observation while working with their NVQ candidates. Candidates will also engage in professional discussion with their assessor.

It takes up to 12 months to complete this qualification.

Course Details for NVQ Level 4

Business and Administration

This course is intended for staff holding a more central administrative role in an organisation such as secretaries or heads of administration.

Health and Social Care (Adult)

This course is intended for staff who deliver physical, emotional, or enabling care to clients, whether they work in health or social care, in the public, private or voluntary sectors. It is designed to be relevant for staff in all care settings, and is about the delivery of health and social care to individuals.

The qualification is aimed at those working with adults in the health and social care sector at manager, deputy manager or senior team leader level. It is designed for full or part-time workers.

To gain the full NVQ four mandatory units and four optional units must be achieved.

Leadership and Management in Care

The national minimum standards for care require that managers in care homes will need to have a qualification relevant to the care provided and a qualification in the management of services at NVQ Level 4. This qualification focuses on the task of managing a care service and is the correct choice for managers of care homes. This includes services for older people, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health problems.

To gain the full NVQ four mandatory units and four optional units must be achieved. Two of the optional units have specific relevance to managers of children's services.

Learning and Development: Unit V1 - Internal Verifier

This course in Conducting Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process is for verifiers and all those who ensure that that the quality requirements of external organisations, such as awarding bodies, are met.

To gain the full NVQ one unit and four elements must be achieved.
